Narrative:
This course contributes to the MLO by learning and analyzing the life, culture, and art of the Aztec Civilization. Some of the work I did for this course was analyzing the Aztec Calendar(PDF File below), understanding the conflicts of the Aztec Culture in a foreign and domestic view, and also learning the way of how they viewed the world(La Noche Triste PDF below). The knowledge I gained for this major helped me to know what influences the Aztec and other Mesoamerican cultures have contributed to the world, the Spanish speaking world, and for many Mexicans/Chicanos. In fact, a year later after this course, I visited Chichen Izta based on Mesoamerican history. The more I travel and get out, the more I will learn about the history. I hope to see Mesoamerican sites, like the one buried under the Main church in Mexico City. This course relates to HCOM 345 Chicanx Life And Culture because it also covers much about the history in the Aztec world. Also when I studied abroad under Maximo Nivel, I was able to see some similarities between the Aztec class and the indigenous history in Cuzco and Machu Pichu in Peru. Though this class has taught me so much, I still look forward to doing more research in this area.
